~Why Every Home Should Have Coconut Oil~

I have newly discovered coconut oil and many of it fabulous uses! According to this site HERE coconut oil is antiviral, anti-fungal, anti-yeast, antibacterial, and antioxidant. Contrary to popular belief it is very good for you!” Coconut oil is called the “low fat” fat. It acts like a carbohydrate in that it is quickly broken down in the livery and used as quick energy. It is not stored like other fats, so it boosts [your] energy and endurance.” It also “improves digestion and absorption of fat soluble vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.” Most of all “coconut oil helps the body heal and repair faster; aiding  and supporting immune functions”

Here is a list of just some of the wonderful uses I found for coconut oil:

Baby & Kids:

  1. Diaper Rash Cream – Compatible with both cloth or disposable diapers
  2. Cradle Cap – put a tad on and rub it around
  3. Tooth Paste – Mix it with baking soda to get an age old tooth paste that will whiten while you brush
  4. Circumcision Care – I have read many places (no research sites though) that putting coconut oil on post circumcision can help healing
  5. Soother for chicken pox, rashes, hives due to allergic reactions, bee stings, bug bites, and shingles.
  6. Use to remove gum from hair.

Pregnant or Nursing Moms:

  1. Consuming 3 Table Spoons of Coconut oil per day (as stated HERE in the “Milk Supply” Section) can increase the nutritional value of breast milk ensuring your baby can grow properly and build a better immunity.
  2. Cracked Nipple – Apply directly to the nipple to heal cracking and bleeding
  3. Hemorrhoids – Apply directly to hemorrhoids twice a day.

Mom & Dad:

  1. Shaving Cream – Use in place of your shaving cream
  2. After Shave – Have a rash coming on? Spread on coconut oil and watch it almost instantly go away.
  3. Heel Cream – Kneed into your heels and feet (then cover with socks) over night to keep your heels healthy and uncracked!
  4. Conditioner – Using after a shower or bath as a leave in conditioner helps keep your hair and scalp healthy!
  5. Message Oil – Use as a message oil to relax
  6. Moisturizer – Use in place of your lotions, on dry flakey skin, or eczema

  8. Eye Cream – Place below your eyes to reduce puffiness
  9. Deodorant – Some folks use Coconut oil to make deodorant with corn starch for a healthier version at a fraction of the cost.
  10. Tooth Paste – Mix it with baking soda to get an age old tooth paste that will whiten while you brush
  11. Body Scrub – Mix it with sugar and essential oils to get a nice body scrub you rub on and then rinse off!
  12. Lip Moisturizer – Keep a little on hand and use in place of chap-stick
  13. Cuticle Care – message into your cuticles to strengthen them.

Cats and Dogs:

  1. Add a table spoon a day to your pets food or water to help with: digestion, nutrient absorption, bad breath, hairballs (in cats), improve coat and skin condition.
  2. Apply topically to clear up eczema and itchy skin due to allergies and bug bites.
  3. Apply topically to heal hot spots.
