Building Your Child’s Character

I am filled with anxiety, as I realize that I am holding a baby, fresh to the world, that is dependent upon my husband and myself for everything. She will grow both physically and mentally based upon what we, as parents, do. I see now with our oldest what we need to focus on as a family. We need to hit ground zero and analyze our own good character traits and where we fall short. Our children will learn and take, not from what we say, but from what we do; from this their own character will develop.

This is a big job. There are 49 good character traits and equal counter traits. Many traits are formed from habits and habits are hard to break, but I believe with much prayer and guidance we can better not only our lives but the lives of our children and those that we all spend time with. Its the kind of work that will be difficult right now but pay off for both us and our children for the rest of our lives.

Here you’ll find the link to a chart of all of them. Of the 49 we clearly need to work on 21 of them as a family and individually. More to come later…
