Balancing Food and Kids

Recently we were at a restaurant and our oldest wasn’t even close to finished with her food. We always try to encourage her NOT to waste food. But when we said something, someone else spoke up and said, “Hey you don’t wanna force them to eat more than they are hungry for or they will become fat!” well ya I guess they weren’t wrong. So how do we then balance teaching our children not to waste food and at the same time not give in to our growing epidemic of childhood obesity? The answer seems so simple …. smaller portions. Even at a restaurant you can request half plates. Im not sure why this hasn’t occurred to me before. I guess we’re gonna have a slightly different view on finishing food or at least how we dish up the kiddos!
